Super Cute Kokeshi Doll Personalised Dividers with Tabs!

It’s been a busy week for me, but I was also able to work on the new dividers!  I was asked if I made dividers to sell, so I thought I would give it a try 🙂

Some ideas came into my head, so I started sketching on a piece of paper…

Then I scanned them into my computer, and created new characters based on the sketches before making dividers from them.

I finally finished all the designing and could print them out last night!  These  are for the Pocket size by the way.

After laminating all the dividers I realized that the “ADDRESS” should have been “ADDRESSES” and had to make the green divider all over again!!  Boo!!

Anyway, here are the completed new dividers!  I think they are pretty cute, hehe!

And do you remember my Registration Number cover?

I made a new one to match with the new dividers!  It’s got a see-through window of course 🙂

If you write your registration number on this page↓ you can see it through the window of the registration number cover 🙂

Oh, by the way, this is my new Finsbury which I bought recently!  I love it, and I’d love to write about it sometime soon 🙂

I hope you like my new dividers!  The ones for the Pocket size are available in my shop at the moment (these are personalized dividers), but if I receive a request I could make them for Personal size as well 🙂

  1. Oh my they’re *wonderful*! I so wish I could get something like this for A5! Seeing your process from sketches through to the finished product is really inspirational too – I think this is one of the most interesting blog posts I have ever read.

    1. Thank you very much, Helen! I’m sooo happy to know that you enjoyed my post! I think I can make these dividers for A5 size actually 😉 I’m a bit too busy with orders for Christmas at the moment, but I will try to make them for A5 size and write about them on this blog as soon as I can! By the way, I don’t have any A5 size Filofax, and I don’t know the size of the dividers you use. The divider itself is 210x148mm, right? What about the tab height? Will it be ok if the tab is 10mm high like the ones I made for the Pocket size, or are they higher? I don’t think tabs should stick out of the organiser because they’ll get damaged quickly, maybe? I would really appreciate it if you could let me know about the sizes 🙂

      1. The A5 dividers seem to be exactly the same size as A5 paper, with 10mm tabs. They certainly wouldn’t need to be any bigger, and whether they would work at the top would depend on the binder. They are *so* cute! May I be cheeky and ask if you might ever make these characters as bookmarks? I so want a set of cute bookmarks for my binder and I can’t find any – and I know I don’t have the skill to make any! I couldn’t imagine any nicer than these anyway!

        1. Thank you very much for your reply, and I’m so sorry for my late reply…!! Thank you for letting me know the sizes- I’ll try to make them with 10mm tabs then 🙂 What kind of bookmarks would you like? Regular rectangular ones? What about the size? I’ve been thinking of creating more items with those characters including bookmarks, and I think I can start all the designing probably after Christmas when things are slower 😉 When I make new items I will write about them here!

          1. You’re busy designing awesome things 🙂

In my imagination, I’m thinking of rectangular bookmarks topped by your wonderful shaped character tabs. The bookmarks would each be decorated in different colours/patterns just like your dividers, but without titles. As for size, I’m not certain, but personally I’d love something a bit wider than the filofax today markers, but not as wide as the FC coloured page markers – wide enough to put a small post-it on for example. I don’t know if this helps at all, I guess I should do some measuring – and I will if it helps 🙂

            1. Hi Helen, sorry for my late reply! I’m slightly confused about the bookmarks you’d like…! Would you like simple rectangular bookmarks with a character on top, or would you like something similar to the “today marker” which has some ring holes so they won’t drop off the binder (again with the character on top, like my dividers)? And what is the size of your today marker? Mine is for the Pocket size and its width is 3.3mm. Is it same for the A5 size binder as well? Anyway, I think it would be a lot easier to talk about this with some images, so would you please send me your e-mail address to sachiko1979 (at) hotmail.com? I’m a bit too busy with orders this month, but I think I can work on your bookmarks after Christmas 🙂 Hope that’s ok with you!

  2. Wow! Amazing – love the dividers and particularly like the character with the curly hair, adorable!
Is there any way you would consider doing some A5 dividers to order? I’m using your personal size ‘month to view’ in my A5 which works fine but would LOVE to have A5 dividers.
Anyway, your work is brilliant and I really enjoy your blog – always a great read with lovely pictures!

    1. Thank you, Lisa! And thank you so much for using my refills! (Are you “lisahappy”?) I just wrote back to Helen’s comment, and I think I can give it a try for the A5 size. It might take a while, but I’ll write about them here 🙂

  3. Fantastic news that you can try the A5! Thank you, thank you!
In the meantime, I’m going to buy a pocket size Filofax (my A5 is just too big these days to carry around these days). So I will purchase the pocket size insert dividers and inserts too!
    PS Yes, I am ‘lisahappy’!

  4. Just purchase these and other items, but forgot to personalize them 😦
That would made it more than perfect…
Can’t wait for your creative idea, i going to collect them all….

    1. Hi! P&P varies depending on where you live and what you order. If you click on the item you’d like to purchase you’ll be able to see how much it would cost 🙂

    1. Hi! Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately I don’t have any tutorials- after scanning the rough draft I do all the rest (such as designing, coloring, etc) on Photoshop and sometimes use Illustrator 🙂
