❤❤Cute Kokeshi Doll Charm for my Filofax❤❤

It’s already the 7th, but Happy New Year!  I couldn’t update my blog as I’ve been really busy.

I visited Lancaster on Christmas Eve, and I bought this handbag there telling myself that it was my Christmas present…!  When I walked into TKMaxx I wasn’t thinking of buying a handbag at all, but when I saw this colour I just walked to the cashier straight away!!  I’ve always bought black or brown handbags, so this is my very first PINK handbag! Yay!

Inside is like this.  You can’t really see in this photo, but I’m using a Tintamar VIP Handbag Organiser inside my handbag 🙂  I bought this handbag organiser ages ago, but it’s still very strong and useful 🙂

Yes, I love Pink & Red 🙂  The coin purse was a gift from my friend’s mum, and the key wallet was a gift from my sister.

By the way, I’ve been trying to make some new things, and I’d like to show you one of them 🙂

Have you seen this post on Ray’s blog “My Life All in One Place“?  When I first saw the photo I coudn’t figure out what those lovely charms were made of!  Then I asked Ray, and his answer was that he used the printable shrink plastic!!  Oh, I LOVED shrink plastic when I was a kid, and was soooo excited to know that now there is printable shrink plastic!!

So I ordered myself a pack of some printable shrink plastic and was waiting until I had some spare time to make some charms for my Filofax!

So here is what I made.  First, I cut an A4 sheet of plastic into 4 pieces as that was how much I needed to use.  Then I printed out my Kokeshi character.  Sorry, all of the photos were taken under my desk lamp, so they are orange-ish.

When it came out of the printer I thought the colour appeared to be a bit faded, but I’m not quite sure if it was because of my printer’s settings or that was just the way it was.

Anyway, I cut them out and made holes.

Then I baked them in the oven for 2 minutes.

Ta-Daaaa!  I put a ball-chain I already had.

I forgot to take a picture of the back of it, but I printed out some pink polka dots on the back as it’s printable on both sides.

I actually wanted to hang it from the top, but the ball-chain is too short.

So I ordered some longer ball-chains, and once they arrive here I’ll put some photos up 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Address refills are now available for the PERSONAL size as well!

  1. This looks fantastic! Ever since Ray made his, I’ve been wanting to make some, and funnily enough I bought some of the plastic the day before yesterday, but I haven’t yet tried making any charms of my own. Great to see how well it works, and yes, so, so cute! I love how you made the bow as a separate layer!

  2. Sorry, forgot to ask, but which plastic did you use? I love the idea of being able to put it through the printer, but the one I got won’t work that way.

    • Thank you, Helen! When Ray told me they were made of shrink plastic I was totally amazed!! The package I have says “AVERY Fantastic Plastic”, but if you look for “printable shrink plastic” or “shrink plastic inkjet” or something you’ll be able to find some I think. I found mine on eBay 🙂

  3. Hi there!
I recently ordered your Personal size dividers on eBay. Love them! I recently downsized to Pocket size, so I’m gonna be needing the pocket size ones as well 😉 I’ll blog about it later on! Do you have a button I can use for my blog? It’s html text.. Can give you some extra exposure since you’re homemade products are sooo cute and lovely! I’ll be ordering again soon!!!

    • Thank you very much for your comment! Oh, you have my dividers, thank you! I would love to make charms for sale, but I’ve been having problems with the oven, and the ball chains I ordered had a problem as well, so I’ve had no choice but to put the project aside for the time being 😦 But I haven’t forgotten about them, and I really hope I can make them for sale soon!

  4. These are so cute! I am inspired! I love your blog, I just wish I could find my filos! 😦 They’re still packed from a move and I can’t find which one they’re in. >.<

Once I do find them I plan to order several things for them from your shop. 🙂

    • Thank you for your comment! I’m so happy to hear that you like my blog 🙂 Talk about moving house, I’m actually moving in a week’s time so I need to box all my stuff very soon! I really hope you can find your Filofaxes soon! 🙂

  5. Your so cute and talented! I love that purse…its perfect! For years I’ve been carrying these really large blinged out purses that either sag (which I hate) or have these black holes where you can’t find anything. I’m on a mission in 2013 to find a more structured bag that is wider but not so deep. Yours looks perfect! I almost found a couple I liked but they were leather, which I normally prefer, and they were either super heavy (empty even) or they slouched too much. I’m still looking. Now that spring is around the corner I guess I will be concentrating on a nice spring color. Love your Filofax inserts and that key chain is so cute!

    • Thank you, Cheryl! I know what you mean, the leather bags smell and feel so nice, but they are super heavy and often slouch/sag which I hate as well!! But for some reason I kept forgetting about it and kept buying leather handbags for many years lol!! Then one day, I finally realised that I like leather handbags, but don’t like soft ones that my things move about inside. What I like about this pink handbag is that it is leather but not too heavy, and it’s stiff enough to keep all my things inside where they are. I hope you’ll be able to find the best handbag for yourself this year!

By the way, did you order some dividers from my shop today? Same first name, but not so sure if it’s you or not! 😉
